Licensed attorneys, teaching AI how lawyers reason.
Watching 7 legal openings across 1 platform · checked 17 hours ago
Observed from role-specific public listings and checked recently. Pay figures are publisher-stated; some may be ceilings rather than guaranteed rates. Always confirm every constraint in the source listing. Admission is required only when the listing states it.
AI companies and specialist platforms hire licensed attorneys to teach models how lawyers reason. The work is closer to writing and evaluating a difficult bar question than to generic data labeling.
A problem your own practice would find ordinary. Two authorities that genuinely disagree.
Make the model fail it. Obscurity will not do this. Contradiction will.
Write the reference answer at the standard you would sign your name to.
Write the rubric that scores what it produced, so the judgment is explicit.

Computed from the listings above, every time this page loads.
The number that actually matters is lower. A task returned twice pays the same and takes three times as long. Merit is built to catch defined mechanical problems before they become unpaid rework.
Applying, verification and matching are free and stay free. Merit is the private browser checker for people already doing the work.

Merit checks the preventable mechanics—not legal judgment. A lawyer still reviews substance, instructions, citations and confidentiality before submitting.

This is not a salary. Published rates do not guarantee hours, assignments, acceptance, or earnings. A slow month can mean no available work at all.
The work comes and goes. Projects get cancelled and queues go quiet, on other companies' budgets rather than on how good you are. Anyone promising you steady volume is guessing.
It does not suit everyone. Some very good attorneys find this tedious. The ones who like it tend to be the ones who liked teaching.
We are in founder beta. We are working with a small first group by hand. Your feedback will shape what we improve before broader release.
Moonlux separates the work into manageable steps: understand the category, identify a credible opening, prepare for the platform's process, practice on fictional material, and check defined mechanical issues before submission. We can guide and organize that process; the platform still controls selection, matching, project access and payment.
No. You are not writing instructions to get a model to behave. You are constructing a legal problem hard enough to defeat it, producing the answer a competent practitioner would give, and writing the standard against which its attempt is scored. The skill being paid for is your judgment, written down.
Not the obscure question — models are good at retrieval, and a rare statute is usually within reach. What defeats them is contradiction: two courts ruling differently on close facts, a statute and a later amendment sitting awkwardly together. The model retrieves both correctly and still reconciles them wrongly, in the same confident register it uses for everything else. Recognising which authority controls, and why, is the judgment you have and it does not.
The rates shown above are taken from listings open today. Nobody can promise you a number in advance — your rate is set in your own offer. What you actually earn also depends on how often work comes back for rework, because a task returned twice pays the same and takes three times as long. Merit is designed to catch defined mechanical problems before they become another round trip.
That is between you and your partnership agreement, and we are not your counsel. Most of this is contract work done on your own time and involves no client of yours. Check your outside-activity policy before you start rather than after.
No. The platforms contract with you directly and pay you directly. We are independent of all of them, we take nothing out of what you earn, and applying through us costs nothing.
Most roles require active admission and we will tell you plainly if you do not clear that bar. Inactive or retired is a status many people elect without thinking much about it, to skip renewal fees and CME, and it is usually fixable by filing a form. Stepping back from full-time practice is not a problem; having stopped altogether is the harder one. Some listings want a JD rather than a current licence, and when one is open we will say so. Apply anyway — we would rather turn you down with a reason than leave you guessing.
Applying, verification, openings and the Moonlux modules are free and stay free. Merit is $29 a month after the founder beta. Its standard checker runs privately in your browser on Mac or Windows and does not upload the files it checks. Your Moonlux record remains exportable and deletable whether or not you ever pay us.
Tell us who you are.
Moonlux is for licensed attorneys. We check your licence against the public register where one exists, and ask that you have your own computer and can legally take platform work where you live. We reply within two days.
What we do with this. We keep what you send so we can reply and match you to work. We do not sell it, share it with the platforms without asking you first, or send you anything you did not ask for. We begin deletion requests the same day. Most profile data is removed promptly; limited legal, consent, security, and financial records may remain only for the periods described in our Privacy Policy. If nothing has come of an application after six months, we delete it automatically.
