MOONLUX

Put the I in AI.

The people teaching AI to practise medicine and law are not, mostly, the best in either field.

They are the ones who happened to have time and found the listings. We think that is worth fixing, and we would like your help fixing it.

What the work actually is

Frontier AI labs pay licensed professionals to teach their models how experts reason. For a physician, that means writing realistic clinical scenarios, producing a reference answer at attending-level quality, and grading what the model produces against a rubric. For a lawyer, the same shape with a memo instead of a chart.

It is closer to writing board questions or precepting a resident than to anything people picture when they hear the words gig work. You are not labelling images. You are being asked to make your judgment explicit, in writing, so a machine can learn from it.

Most people who stay say the same thing: it is the most interesting thing they do all week.

What it pays

Rates are set by specialty and seniority, and they are unusually good because credentialed reviewers are scarce and the labs know it.

Clinical medicine

Designing cases, writing gold-standard answers, grading model reasoning in your specialty.

Roughly $130–400/hr, by specialty and seniority

Health system operations

Staffing, capacity, patient flow, the tradeoffs between access, quality and cost. This route wants your administrative years, not your clinical ones.

Usually paid per completed workflow rather than hourly

Law

Issue-spotting, analysis, and written reasoning in your practice area. Not prompt engineering.

Roughly $55–150/hr, by specialty and seniority

Figures above come from current public listings. Your rate is set in your offer, and nobody can promise you a number in advance.

Whether you are eligible

The platforms want the same three things, and the bar is real:

Stepping back from full-time practice is not a problem. Having stopped is.

What Moonlux does

Getting from hearing about this to being paid for it currently takes most people somewhere between ten and thirty hours, spread over weeks. Very little of that is difficult. Almost all of it is undocumented, which is why people give up in the middle rather than at the start.

  1. Work out where you fit

Specialty, seniority, and whether your administrative or teaching experience opens a second route. Most people have more than one. The platforms make you pick one.
  2. Get you set up

Accounts, model access, the handful of tools the work requires. This is where the hours go, and none of it is hard once someone shows you.
  3. Show you what good looks like

How these models fail, what a strong reference answer contains, and where the line sits between using a model in your work and letting it write for you. That second one is what gets people removed.
  4. Put you in front of the right project

Not a list of links. A specific opening, with a reason, and what to expect from the assessment.
  5. Stay with you through the first month

Which is when almost everyone quietly stops.

Some candour

This will not make you rich

A few thousand dollars a week is twenty to thirty hours on top of whatever else you do. The constraint is hours in your life, and nothing we build changes that.

The work is not always there

Projects get cancelled and queues go quiet, and that depends on other companies' budgets rather than on how good you are. Anyone promising you steady volume is guessing.

You may not enjoy it

Some very good clinicians and lawyers find this tedious. The ones who like it tend to be the ones who liked teaching.

We are new

We are working with a small first group by hand. You would be one of them, and you would be putting up with the rough edges that come with that.

Two sentences is plenty. Leadership, teaching, publications, board work — anything you would mention if someone asked why you.

Hours a week you would realistically give this

What we do with this. We keep what you send so we can reply and match you to work. We do not sell it, share it with the platforms without asking you first, or send you anything you did not ask for. Two people-sized guarantees: ask us to delete your record and it is gone the same day, and if nothing has come of it after six months we delete it ourselves.
